Healthy Teen Network is seeking a talented and creative Communications Designer to join our team. The Communications Designer will be responsible for developing visually engaging and effective communication materials that support the organization’s mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities

- Ensure consistency and adherence to the organization’s branding guidelines across all communication materials.
- Coordinate the schedule and content development of the Healthy Teen Network weekly blog among staff and external partners; develop and refine content; and publish, share, and report on posts.
- Create and share resources in a variety of formats (e.g., videos, stories, tool kits) to articulate public health information and make it relevant and impactful for diverse audiences.
- Obtain a deep understanding of the needs and priorities of key audiences (e.g., direct service providers, program managers, health educators, parents, young people).
- Collaborate to apply principles of Human-Centered Design to ensure messages and resources are created with the end-user in mind.
- Collaborate to identify and select the appropriate format, or medium (e.g., tip sheets, podcasts, guides, videos) to deliver messages to diverse audiences.
- Conceptualize, develop, and refine graphic design for webpages, resources, graphics, and assets.
- Collaborate to develop and maintain organizational and project websites.
- Collaborate to plan, design, execute, and report on social media marketing campaigns and recruitment efforts, utilizing visual and communication design principles.
- Facilitate audience interactions and engagement across social media channels.
- Support evaluation of resources and dissemination methods; compile analytics and user feedback; and collaborate to identify innovative approaches to improve content and dissemination strategy.
- Represent Healthy Teen Network at conferences and other events to support dissemination and organization visibility; collaborate to develop and facilitate presentations and exhibits.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of training, technical assistance, and workshops, to build capacity of the field.
- Contribute to writing reports, manuscripts, and proposals.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Healthy Teen Network national conference.
Education and Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in a communication role
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Experience with website platforms (WordPress preferred).
- Proficiency in graphic design tools and content creation software (including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator).
- Familiarity with content and campaign development and optimization across social media platforms.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing for a variety of mediums, including email marketing, social media, and blogs.
- Nonprofit experience preferred.
Compensation
Healthy Teen Network offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage; a 401K plan; and generous Federal holidays and vacation and sick leave. This position is considered an exempt employee. Salary range is $48,000-53,000.
Location
This is a remote position. This position will be required to attend occasional meetings, conferences, and other events, located in Maryland, Washington, DC, and other locations across the United States.
Core Work Hours
Healthy Teen Network has a 35-hour work week. Staff schedules may vary, but all staff are expected to be available during core work hours. Core work hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM ET, Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 AM to 2:00 pm ET, Friday. During this time frame, employees are expected to be available for meetings and other collaborative activities. Core work hours facilitate coordination and collaboration among team members, as we work across time zones and allow for flexible schedules.
